Why is it that when you rip a multi disc audio book CD, the disc names are almost always inconsistent/wrong?

example in a single 11-cd book:
Unknown album (9-29-2011 7-41-34 PM) //MOST ARE LIKE THIS FORMAT BUT…
Disc3 Disc 3
Disc10

  1. classicsat says:

Simple. CDs do not have the name and all that built into them, just the audio.

When you insert a music CD in your computer, a checksum value is created (a mathematical formula of CD length and number of tracks, or something like that), and that is used as an ID to reference an online database of music CDs, which has artist/album/track titles. No such database exists for audiobook CDs, at least probably accessable by your CD rippin application.
